Karon Beach Guide

The soft golden Karon Beach stretches four kilometres and is popular with sunbathers and water sports fans with parasailing and jet-skis available.

Snorkelling is enjoyed at the rocky southern end and during low season the waters are home to local surfers riding the waves. Thanks to the sand dunes, small waterway and road, Karon Beach is set away from the hotels and restaurants giving it a nice private feeling. On occasion, the beautiful wide beach is also a favoured venue for sports tournaments and live concerts. At either end of the Karon Beach road there are lively centres for shopping, dining and nightlife.

Spending time on the glorious beach is the most popular past time in Karon. The open wide beach is alive in the peak season with water sports and volleyball, in the low season however, look out for the red warning flags as there can be a dangerous undercurrent

Often referred to as Patong's little sister, Karon has a small version of Bangla Road located behind the circle at the northern end of the beach. The area comes alive after dark and has a warren of bars with music

There is plenty of good food in Karon to be enjoyed within walking distance, making dining out a pleasant experience. Opposite the beach in the south, there are a group of local restaurants selling delicious fresh seafood which you can select from the icy display box.
