Laid back Koh Lanta is a less developed neighbouring island of Phuket, part of Krabi province. Koh Lanta is split into two islands, 'yai' (big) and 'noi' (small), with a regular car ferry crossing connecting them to the mainland. Koh Lanta hotels are spread along the west coast of Koh Lanta Yai, a favourite for European holiday makers during high season, who enjoy the fabulous diving and family friendly atmosphere. The quality of Koh Lanta hotels does vary, with the most luxurious being at the more secluded southern end serviced by a private jetty. The majority of hotels are mid range, but there are plenty of bamboo style huts catering to the budget backpacker crowd.
